The Transalp where nothing went according to plan. The route had to be changed several times due to unexpectedly time-consuming ascends and bad weather. The tour started at Immenstadt. The Great Stein Saddle and the Almajur Saddle were extremely challenging passes I would not recommend anyone to attempt. Then I chose an alternative route across the Reschenpass, followed by the Madritsch Saddle as an absolute biking highlight. Then across detours via Merano and Bolzano into the Brenta mountains. From Lake Tovel across the Gaiarda Pass to Molveno. Last pass: Cross of Bondiga with a challenging freeride descend to Lake Garda. On this Transalp I had to push and carry a lot! |

My first Solo Transalp! I struggled forward from Füssen to Lake Garda all by myself. From Lake Plan I drove to Lermoos on easy gravel roads. Then I crossed the well-known Fernpass followed by a flowing downhill trail. Then from Imst into the Ötz Valley, along the Ötztaler River to Sulden. Scenic highlight at the Alpine Divide were the Ötztaler Glacier and the Niederjoch (Similaun Shelter). After that I overcame the Tarscher Saddle, Rabbi Saddle and the rather unknown Rango Pass a little further to the south. The Transalp was concluded by a classic mountain bike pass, the Mount Tremalzo. The loss of my GPS was a handicap, but didn't prevent me from pushing on. A very challenging dream-route! |
